Free trading signal terms

Plain definitions for the language used across this guide. Where a term has a test behind it, the entry points to the page that develops it.

The terms, defined

Free trading signal

A trade idea - ticker, direction, entry, target and stop - published without a fee. Free of charge says nothing about whether the call is any good or who is funding it.

Free education tier

A no-cost set of learning materials, such as the 240-page book How to Master Modern Markets, meant to teach a reader to judge signals rather than just follow them. See: the free book vs free signals.

Affiliate funnel

A free channel that earns when a follower signs up with a partner broker and trades, so its incentive is order volume rather than the follower's results. See: the red flags of a free funnel.

Track record

The full history of past calls, wins and losses together, informative only when the losing calls are left in and the period is continuous. See: a record you can re-check.

Independent review

An examination of the underlying statements by a named third party with no commercial stake in the result; a leaderboard is not a review.

Bitcoin timestamp

A hash of a call written to the Bitcoin ledger at publication, proving the call existed in exactly that form at that moment and was not altered afterward. See: locked before the outcome.

Conviction grade

A letter, A through D, ranking a call against the spread of returns its own model has produced; the E was dropped in 2026. See: grades that are measured.

Drawdown

The deepest peak-to-trough fall over a period - a more honest read on risk than a headline return.

Mean reversion

Trading on a price that has stretched unusually far from a typical level and tends to snap back toward it; all four models apply this on different clocks.

Win rate

The share of calls that closed profitably - trustworthy only with the total signal count shown beside it. See: why a win rate needs a count.
